A Message from the CEO
There is talent, passion and sheer brilliance within our organization. Together, we have accomplished incredible things. However, the road hasn’t always been smooth. I am sure we have all experienced tough moments so far this year.
I want you to know that in those challenging moments, tenacity is forged. Tenacity isn’t just about gritting your teeth and bearing down. It’s about that fire within you that refuses to be extinguished. In the coming months, we must:
Prepare for State tests.
Implement plans of action from the data reflected in our winter MAP/STAR assessment results.
Maintain high academic and behavior expectations.
Maintain attendance during flu season.
Meet requirements and expectations of stakeholders.
There will be times when we feel stretched thin. In those times, know that I have absolute faith in each and every one of you because I’ve seen your tenacity in action. I’ve seen your resilience, creativity and unwavering commitment to excellence.
I challenge you to embrace the upcoming challenges with unshakeable resolve. Let’s show our Ohio communities our capabilities. Together, with tenacity as our guide, there is nothing unachievable!

New Growth and New Appointments
EEG is exploding with growth! We have expanded to an incredible 24 schools across 30 locations throughout Ohio, which necessitated a restructuring of our organization. To give our schools increased, focused support, we have created two dynamic, specialized teams: one for our K-8 schools and another for our high schools. This strategic restructuring will supercharge our services and drive even better results for our students.
Leading the charge for our K-8 schools is Lisa Davis, continuing her great work as Vice President of K-8 School Operations. Our dynamic team member, Michael Zografos, has taken helm as our new Vice President of High School Operations.
We offer a round of applause and heartfelt congratulations to all those who have earned exciting new positions:
Jennifer Alfrey, Director of Curriculum, High Schools
Tracy Carter, Director of Schools, K-8
Victoria Carter, Director of Schools, High Schools
Matt Demosky, Director of Schools, High Schools
Kate Travers, Executive Director of Career Technical Education
Michael Zografos, Vice President of High School Operations
Each school team will focus on providing enhanced support, efficiently propelling our schools to the next level of success.
“We Love You Here (WLYH)” Re-Enrollment Initiative
Get ready to feel the love! February is here, and with it comes the most heartwarming time of year – re-enrollment season. This year, we are not merely re-enrolling; we are celebrating the incredible, family-oriented and elevated experiences that make our schools extraordinary. Prepare to be embraced by our “We Love You Here” re-enrollment initiative, a month-long celebration of our amazing students and families!
Imagine the joy of students receiving a personalized letter from their teachers, sharing a special message just for them. The EEG marketing team, in collaboration with each school, is buzzing with excitement and planning fun-filled events that capture the spirit of “We Love You Here.” We are on a mission to Elevate the Experience in every way, making this re-enrollment season something staff, students and families will look forward to each year. Our sights are set high, with a 95% re-enrollment goal for every single school. The question is: Who will be the first to reach this milestone?
Career Technical Education Continues to Thrive
CTE Meets Innovation – OCA student uses welding and electric skills to create a unique lamp.
We endeavor to ignite the futures of our high school students by emphasizing career development through our cutting-edge Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. Our dedicated CTE dream team, Kate Travers and Jason O’Koon, are collaborating with schools to expand our programs. Each year brings incredible opportunities. We want our students to excitedly explore, discover and build the careers of their dreams. Our quarterly CTE newsletter is available. It can be accessed here.
Seeing Clearly and Succeeding Brightly
Our partnership with The Ohio Optometric Foundation’s iSee Program is proving to be beneficial. Following their free eye exams, our students at Middlebury and Main Prep Academies have now received brand-new glasses. At EEG, we care about our students. We are committed to supporting them holistically, providing the resources they need to shine academically. The excitement on each student’s face as they received their new pair of glasses was priceless. We express a massive thank-you to both schools, The Ohio Optometric Foundation and Sandy Calvert for making this incredible gift of sight possible!
Mobile Dentist Visits Beacon Academy
Beacon Academy recently hosted a visit from Mobile Dentist who provided essential dental services to our students. These services, including examinations, cleanings, and other necessary treatments, were offered at no cost. This valuable community partnership contributes significantly to our students’ overall successes by promoting their well-being. We are pleased to positively impact our community and the lives of our students through such initiatives.
Emulation Rewards
East Bridge Emulation students recently embarked on an exciting educational adventure to COSI! These exceptional students have consistently demonstrated accountability by exceeding classroom and school behavior expectations. As true leaders, they inspire their peers to emulate their positive behavior and actions. We would like to give kudos to Principal Lewis and the entire East Bridge team for setting high expectations and fostering a culture of excellence.
Did You Know? – Charter School Accountability
Ohio has some of the toughest charter school closure laws in the country. Unlike traditional public schools, which often remain open despite poor performance, charter schools in Ohio can be closed based on their performance within the first four years of operation. This rigorous accountability measure ensures that charter schools are held to high standards. At EEG, we make every effort to ensure students are on a positive academic trajectory through educational leadership, targeted professional development, classroom walkthroughs, coaching and feedback.
